Understanding the Landscape

Each agency operates its own procurement and vendor qualification system. Certification with one does not automatically qualify you with another. You must register separately with each entity where you want to do business.

PRIMARY CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

1. Broward County OESBD Local Certification — One-Page Checklist

Goal: Get certified as a local Small Business Enterprise (SBE) or County Business Enterprise (CBE) with Broward County OESBD.

1. Confirm You’re Eligible

• Business is independently owned and operated.
• Principal office has a physical address in Broward County (no P.O. box or virtual office).
• Business has been operating for at least 1 year.
• You hold a valid Broward County Local Business Tax Receipt and applicable city tax receipt.
• You meet OESBD’s small business size, revenue, and employee limits (e.g., generally 15 or fewer full-time employees for local SBE/CBE).

2. Choose Your Local Certification Type

• SBE – For small, local firms pursuing smaller County contracts and reserves.
